Babies: 6 - 9 Months

DC drop-off sucked

DD had been in a good mood all day. She ate a nice breakfast, took a great nap, played for a long time.... But, this is day 4 at daycare (she just goes in the afternoons) and when I dropped her off today she really cried.  The first few times went great, she just sat down and played.  But today she crawled over and grabbed my leg and started bawling.  I HATED having to walk out the door watching my baby cry like that.  UGH  I wish I didn't have to leave her there.

How long did it take your LOs to adjust to daycare?  Did they/do they cry when you drop them off?

I'm just hating the fact that I have to work right now.

  • My LO has been going to daycare for months now and separation anxiety just started kicking in recently. It is so hard to leave when they cry and crawl to you! I judt have to tell myself it will get better and it is good for both of us to have the time apart. As long as you know things are going ok otherwise at the daycare, just keep working on it. Talk to the staff to hear how she does the rest of the day too.

  • I'm sorry you're going through this. My LO is not having those problems, but I can only imagine how hard it is for you.  LO has started getting fussy when he sees me leave the room at home, but my husband is the one who drives him to day care. He loves the people at day care, but he started before he knew enough to care who was holding him.  Hopefully we won't have the separation anxiety. Huh? My heart goes out to you.  I know I hate to hear my LO cry.  Hope this gets better soon.

  • I'm sorry. :(

DH does drop. Most days, she is perfectly fine, but he always texts me to let me know if she has a particularly pouty/fussy drop-off. I know he's dreading the day when she can crawl/chase after him or call his name as he's leaving.
