Mini Van mamas ...

... do you love your van?

I'm looking at trading my volvo station wagon for a honda odyssey.

Do you find the extra space helpful? Is it easy to get kids in and out of carseats. etc.

Thanks!!

Re: Mini Van mamas ...

  • I love mine. I could not have survived the infancy of triplets without it. Automatic sliding doors are the best!

  • Yes!  I have a Honda Odyssey and it is so much easier to deal with kids in it than the Honda Pilot that we have.

  • We have a Town and Country and love it. I highly recommend the power tailgate and power doors.

We can fit all kinds of things in there. Seats are easy to pull out and transport huge items.

Love using the back as a changing table, and when we potty trained so easy to keep a little potty in the car for a quick go when out and about.

    Love it!

  • This is a C&P from a similar post:

Yes, I love my van & the space.  I  have an Odyssey and find it family friendly because...

the sliding doors- don't have to worry about DC banging another car, easy while holding a toddler or infant carrier

the insane amount of drink holders; there are 8 just in the front of the cabin.   I think there are 4 in the back

the magic seat- i have it removed and have easy access to the back- where my 4 year old rides in a Britax Frontier

    dvd player

i can fit my single stroller, my double stroller &groceries in the back or 2 bikes and a tricycle (which we do often when we meet friends at the park)

i have 4 carseats (2 are boosters) in there at all times since I seem to have an extra kid often, it rocks that we seat more than just our family KWIM

the truck has a protective thing in the back that you just lift out for easy cleaning great since i spilt kids sand box sand back there

separate controls for the back of the van (both air and radio)

    seat warmers

it came with sun protectors/shields that lift out of the door (on the sliding doors only)

i read somewhere that boosters were not safe in 3rd row SUVs because of the limited truck space

  • Love my van - totally easy to get the kids in and out - way easier then in DH's 4 door car.

  • I love it!  I have a 2011 Odyssey and it is significantly easier to cart the kids around as compared with our Subaru Outback, which I also love.  The main advantage is the added space and that I don't have to bend down to get them into their seats.  We looked at some SUVs as well when thinking about getting a van and the disadvantage to them was that one often has to step up to get into them as they are so high off the ground.  The minivan is at the right level to make it all easy. The sliding doors are awesome too.

  • i have a dodge grand caravan - it's a company car so i never shopped around, so can't compare to the honda - but i can say that having auto open doors alone is worth having a minivan - i LOVE that feature... comes in handy every day in so many ways.

i love the stow & go seating - we now have all 3 in the back row and one middle seat stowed and it gives us SO much room in there - LOVE it.
