Weather question

Is it just unusually warm this year? I never expected to be on the peninsula and it be over 80 degrees all through October.

I'm stressing out over halloween now b/c my kiddo wants to be a robot and that's going to be uber hot if it's 80+ out :(

Tell me this isn't usual. Please.

Re: Weather question

  • It comes and goes--all I know is that on my wedding we were thinking it was going to be mid 70s and it ended up being 98 degrees and that was the end of October. :

It looks like we're having an Indian summer....but usually it is a little cooler on Halloween--this year, who knows?! So confusing!

  • Every year, I say "omg - it's so hot this year" and every year it's this way.  It was 90+ degrees the day I got married and that was 7 years ago.   Since I've had kids, I've always expected it to be cold and their costumes reflect it.  And then the day comes and they can't wear the costumes during the day because it's so hot.  I've finally learned and it's layers all the way.

  • It really depends on the year, but October is typically one of the best months weather-wise in the bay area.  Best meaning more of what you might expect in May or June in other parts of the country... warm but not terribly hot, and less fog in the foggy areas.  Remember this year everyone was talking about "Juneuary" because it was freezing and raining all June.  So now we're getting a little payback with more warmth in Oct :)
  • October is almost always warm/hot here. I personally love it but I know not everyone feels that way.
  • Fall is the Bay Area's real summer. It is usually reliably warm with blue skies.  The real summer months are HOT inland but cool to cold on the coast.  It sucks when shopping for clothes (so many cute fall styles that you can't wear until THanksgiving, if then!), but is otherwise why people live in a place with such a temperate climate, right?

As a kid my mom always bought or made me super warm fall clothes for back to school, and I would be sweating by lunch.  Same deal for many a Thanksgiving and Xmas.  No layers, just long sleeves.  Yuck!  I try to plan better for our little family but still failed a few thanksgivings ago when we all ended up in tshirts instead of the gorgeous long sleeves I picked out months in advance. ;)

  • Nah, it's usual. I can't remember an October that was actually cold. November is when the rain/choppiness settles in.
  • I wouldn't say it's always been this way, but for as long as I've had kids it has been hot through Oct and then suddenly cools down right before Halloween.
  • well I guess we'll stick with the robot. I thought I left 80+ degree weather behind in Texas, but oh well :)

    thanks gals :)

  • This weather is definitely weird. I am seriously so over it. Come on fall, any day now!
