Babies: 6 - 9 Months

If you have a baby walker...

At what age did you start using it, and how old was your LO when they were able to touch the ground and move it with their feet?

  • I think we started using ours around 5-6 months. Hes always been able to touch and move around places. But now he's really good at getting to wherever he wants to go.

This! At first DD could move places (mostly backwards), but she'd just be moving--not with an intended destination. Now, watch out...she knows where she wants to go and gets there fast.

  • We've been using the walker since 5 months. LO has always been more interesting in walking then crawling.. he still whines if he ends up on his belly. I have two walkers.. one for outside too.

    * I heard walkers can inhibit walking but I think that's crap.. LO learned to put one foot in front of the other.. now he will hold our hands and walk around the house.

  • We got it a week ago.  She loves it.  She'll hang out in it in the kitchen while I make dinner.  She can't really walk around in it much yet.  Her feet just reach the ground, and she doesn't really get it.  But she loves all the toys and buttons.

  • We started it at about 4.5 months, when she had good upper body control. She could touch the ground in it on the lowest level right away, but she's always been 99th percentile for height. She was zooming around in it by 5.5 months and is on the second height setting now.

  • I think we started about 6 1/2 months. The pedi did tell me to step using it.

I let her use it while I am preping dinner, 15- 20 minutes, and she has a ball.

  • Babies R Us, Walmart, etc. We got ours for around $40 new at Wal Mart and the one for my mom's house for $15 at a garage sale.

  • Um right around 4.5 months.  DD couldn't touch the ground but LOVED sitting in it and having us push her around.

Now she can touch the ground on the lowest setting and can push herself backwards and walk forward.

I agree- this has helped her understand the functions of walking, as she is well on her way to being a walker!
