TMI, but today is day 5 without a successful BM and I'm pretty sure it's not possible for me to ingest any more Metamucil, hot water with lemon, cold water, fiber-filled cereals, etc.
I just called the doctor and the nurse was quick to place a prescription for (I'm downright excited at the thought of returning to "normal.")
Just curious for those Colace users how long it took to, um, be successful? (I really do hate talking about bathroom habits, but I guess there's no shame in my game anymore.) Have you continued taking it normally or just for the occasional need?
Re: Colace Users
I just took colace for the first time yesterday. It had been over a week since I had gone last, so I was extremely constipated. I feel like I needed to go all the time, but nothing. About 3 hours after I took it I went, but it was not a "normal" bm, but I was happy for anything at all to come out (sorry, tmi). It says on the package 12-72 hours, so I am hoping for more relief soon!
Good luck to you.
My first
There really is no such thing as TMI when it comes to this pregnancy stuff! I think we're all dealing with so much of this stuff, it helps to have people to talk to about it.
I have been taking one Colace about every other day or every three days, whenever I start to feel really uncomfortable. The dosing says you can take more than one at a time, but so far I haven't needed to. It takes about 12 hours to do anything for me, so I usually take it at night and then in the morning things start moving a little better. Honestly, though, I never feel like everything is cleared out -- there always seems to be a constant backup waiting to move into place when anything comes out. I'm hoping this will get better eventually.
