Where to get a non-standard cradle mattress?

I'm not an everyday poster here, but I lurk every once in a while as you ladies have great recommendations! We are expecting our first in February and are starting to get things together. My mom brought the cradle my grandfather made for me when I was a baby. We wanted to get a replacement mattress as the one that is in it is from when I was a baby. We picked one up at BRU and it is 2" too big.

Any suggestions on where we can find a smaller mattress? The interior of our cradle is 16" x 36" and everything I have seen is that the standard mattress is 18" x 36". I haven't been able to find anything to fit the smaller cradle that we have. I'm thinking that we may have to make our own cradle mattress, but I don't really think that would be the safest for the baby.

Recommendations or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA

We ordered a Moonlight Slumber crib mattress and I remember when looking at their website, that they do custom size mattresses.  You might google them and check it out.  Good luck!

check buy buy baby, we were there over the weekend and they a have a bunch of cradle and bassinet mattresses in different sizes

We made the mattress for our bassinette. As long as you get really firm foam for the inside and make sure it fits snugly in the cradle I think its perfectly safe. Its pretty easy to do and you can follow all the safety guidelines.
