  • I've never heard that name before.. but I love the NN Ella.  maybe she could be Estrella Elizabeth, Estrella Katherine, or maybe Estrella Renee?

If I were you, I would go for a more common MN when doing such an uncommon name.

ETA: just read PP response... the fact that it's Spanish and pronounced that way sort of changes my opinion.  I don't know if I would use "Ella" for the NN.   But REALLY it all depends on how you will pronounce it :)

Really weird cause the baby is due in June and the Surrogate's Name is Star and Estrella means Star.

Completely agree. The name is pronounced Es-tray-uh. I think people that don't even speak Spanish know that. If you're going to change the pronunciation it just doesn't make sense.

Estrella pronounces as Es-Trella makes me think of Cinderella for some reason.

I didnt change it,I found Es-Trella as the english form of the name and its also how it was pronounced for my grandmother who is portuguese.

  • I love the name if you were going to use the Spanish pronunciation. I don't like the sound if you're going with Es-trel-ah, it sounds awkward to me, like someone misspelled Estelle. (It may be a legit version of the name, that is just my reaction)

    Es-Trella.

I loooooove the name Estrella and it's in the running for a mn for us. However, I wouldn't pronounce the double l like a regular l and the nn Ella doesn't seem to go with it. Is this how your grandmother pronounced it?

I would bend the "honoring names" rules a little and go for Estela, Estella or even Stella if you really want to skip the Spanish pronunciation of the double l.

I don't have any mns to suggest.

Just read your previous responses in this post. If your GM was Portuguese, the name was probably spelled with 1 L, not 2, as that's how the Portuguese word for star is spelled. But who knows, a lot of strange things can happen with names.
