Anyone's LO break out into a rash after fruit?

My daughter gets a quick temporary rash every time she eats any kind of fruit.  The first time we took her to the ER because we thought she was having an allergic reaction and didn't want to take any chances. She was fine and had 100% oxygen so they said to avoid the bananas that we had given her but now when she eats any fruit she gets the rash for about 5 minutes. It starts at her temples and comes down around her eyes.  Wondering what the heck it is?

  • My LO did that, too. I started at 4 months and the rash would appear, so I stopped and started again at 6 months. There it was again. He only has it with the jarred fruits, though. I started giving him fresh fruit purees and he does fine. No rash at all. I just gave up on the jarred kind. Hopefully this works with your LO as well.

Thanks! That was what I was thinking of and now I think that's what I'll do!

  • Mine gets splotchy red often from the bottle but sometimes food.  dr said it's just an immature vascular dilation thing & he'll grow out of it.  hope that helps.
  • Mine gets a red bum after eating bananas. We're cutting them out for a while and mentioning to the pedi at her appointment on Wednesday.
