Switch to soy??

One of my twins continues to spit up a TON!!  We tried the Similac Allimentum and that didn't do the trick so I was considering switching to soy.

My thoughts are that since he does not spit up real food that it must be the formula-right??  Dr says it's no big deal since he is a happy spitter but there has got to be an explanation right??

So what do you guys think?? Worth a try??

Re: Switch to soy??

  • My twins were having the same problem and we tried the Alimentum, which didn't help us either.  We switched to Similac Sensitive for Spit-Up and it has worked fantastically! Hope this helps!

  • A lot of soy and sensitive formulas have corn syrup as the first ingredient,  Good Start doesn't.  I would not give my baby anything but Good Start or Organic,  if she couldn't take the cow's milk-based formula.

  • If you are going to switch to soy please tell your pedi. that you are doing so.?

Why?  Not that I wouldn't but but what makes you say this??

  • I think she's saying that because they like to document the changes in case anything "comes up." That being said, if the spit up isn't massive and doesn't bother her, I really wouldn't worry about it. Most babies spit up, some after every bottle, it's not terribly unusual and not worth a change that could potentially cause more issues. Case in point: my LO has an MSPI but we got the go ahead to try soy this past week. Yeah. MAJOR FAIL. It caused him to get so constipated that he bled. :/ If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
