In-line & Side-by-side pros & cons??

My wonderful DH bought me a P&T Hammerhead after I expressed a lot of interest in their concept and reputation, but about a month ago my SIL told me that she was going to get rid of her BOB side-by-sde now that her girls are 4 & 7 and asked if I was interested in it.  (We haven't discussed pricing, but knowing her it'll either be a super good deal or free so I'm not worried about the added expense.)  DH isn't really interested because we "already have a double" but I wondered if there are some pros to a side-by-side that would make it worth the money/space investment for 2 double strollers.  Any thoughts??

  • I run with a double BOB Revoluation and love it.  We spend a lot of time outside and it's great for that too.  Both kids have a clear view and they enjoy sitting next to each other (most of the time...if the toddler is bugging her sister I put their shades down and that solves it).  Side-by-sides aren't ideal for places with tight spaces or really large crowds.  I have an inline stroller that can be a single or a double for malls, etc.  I also recently purchased a single umbrella stroller, as there really isn't a perfect stroller, IMO.

  • We have a P&T sport and its AMAZING. It fits everywhere, I can push it in a store and not worry about taking out displays and fit it through tight crowds without being a total PITA ;-) It can be either a single or double which is a huge perk, I love the flexibility. It only weighs about 22lbs. I think which was the same as the Chicco stroller that came with the travel system. My kiddos don't mind being back to front and take turns sitting below. My oldest actually prefers it because they can get in and out themselves when they want to walk or ride. We take it everywhere - park, zoo, mall, walks around the neighborhood...it handles really well on various terrain and DH jogs with it. By far my best 2u2 (and baby) purchase to date!

  • I have been wondering this same thing.. We just traded for a front to back sit and stand baby trend double stroller. We have a side by side as well, but I don't think that the baby seat will go on it very well. I guess at this point we have what we have, but I would like to know which is best. My only thought on it was that I wanted one that I could put the baby on the back closest to me and then DS1 could see from the front.

Are you able to do that w/ the sit and stand double?  I was looking at this model but it wasn't clear to me if that was an option.

  • I love having both a SBS (City Mini double) and a tandem (Graco Duoglider). That said, 95% of the time I used the City Mini. I just find it much quicker and easier. But if my only SBS was a BOB Duallie I'd probably find myself using the tandem more often, just because the BOB is big and harder to fold, etc.
