hi ladies....I had a miscarriage a few months back when I was 6 weeks pregnant...I normally have never had a problem with weight - lost all my weight from my first child. But since this miscarriage I have gained a good 5 lbs that I cannot get off...in the past if I would watch what I ate I could lose the weight immediately - I am eating super healthy and can't lose it - this is very odd for me - the only thing I can think of is this is since the miscarriage -does this relate at all to any of your experiences...???

Re: weight gain after miscarriage
your not alone. Since my m/c 2 months ago I gained about 10 pounds (plus another 6 or so while I was pg). For the past 7 weeks (I had to wait 2 weeks after m/c before I could work out again) I have been hard core training for a race at the end of this month (running has really helped me get through this mentally!) anyways I have been working out a lot and eating pretty good, not the best but also def better then I was before. But it seems like I just keep gaining weight
. its to the point where I am REALLY cutting out sweets, like have it only 1 time a week. and also really thinking about trying p90x
.
I hope that it will change after I get AF!
I lost my baby at 12 weeks in Nov. 2011, and around Jan. 2012 I started gaining weight. To date, I've gained 10 lbs. I work out 6-7 days a week doing P90X, yoga, and walking/jogging 4-5 miles, plus I'm really active and hardly ever sit around. I've been eating healthy, cutting down on sugars and eating even more fruits and veggies than ever. Before my pregnancy and m/c, I could eat a lot (because I worked out a lot) and I never gained weight even with my pregnancy. So this week, I decided I was sick of my jeans bulging. I got my thyroid tested with my regular doctor, but the results came back normal. So I called my OBGYN and the nurse midwife told me that grief can cause weight gain or loss. I explained that I've been working out more and eating right and still gaining, and that my periods have become irregular, so she wants me to come in to have my hormones tested and to check for cysts. I seriously hope that she will have a solution for me because this is a serious blow to the self-esteem, especially coming right after the m/c.
If you are still having problems, I would definitely suggest calling your doctor; it could be your thyroid; it could be hormone fluctuations because of the m/c; it could be something else. But it helps (at least for me) to talk things through with my doctor rather than continue in frustration any longer. It's also great to know that this is fairly common among women who have had miscarriages...
