Two Under 2

Really nervous - BFP for #3

Hi all.  I already had 2 under 2, and DS is 2.5, DD is 16 months.  We decided to stop preventing when DD was 12 months, and see what happened.  Well, today I got a faint BFP...looks like we are headed for 3, 3 and under.  Now I am wondering what we were thinking!  Can anyone who is in the same boat or has already done this please talk me down?   I know I will handle it because I have to, but right now, that seems very difficult.  Thanks in advance!

Re: Really nervous - BFP for #3

  • My 3rd isn't here yet, but if it makes you feel better even though we were trying for #3, once I got that positive test I freaked out to my sister on the phone while pacing in my driveway and then I threw up!

    I think nervousness is normal.

  • congrats! We'll have 3 under 3.5, im nervous sometimes, but more excited. I think the nervousness comes from me being alone with the kids and worried about morning-all day--sickness.

hang in there, I think its normal and you will be fine!

  • I'll have 3u3 as well (#3 will be here in 2 weeks so a little earlier than expected).  I agree with the PP, I freaked out as well and we were trying for #3.  I think I was expecting it to take longer.  I've had lots of advice thrown my way and most of it is the same, once you don 2u2 you can handle anything:)  Congrats and good luck!

  • CONGRATS!!!

    I don't have #3 yet but I think that's a normal reaction,lol.

We were trying for #3 and I still waver occasionally between extreme excitement and extreme fear.

  • We'll just barely have 3u3 if this kiddo comes before their due date (which is my oldest's 3rd birthday). I go back and forth between nervous & excited but most everyone has told me going from 2-3 is easier than 1-2 :)

  • Thanks everyone.  It is starting to sink in, but we have a long road ahead of us - hopefully we will have 9 more months to feel more comfortable with having 3 under 3.5!

  • First of all - congratulations OP!!

I also just wanted to say thank you thank you to all the posters here!!

DH and I have talked about having 3 children very close together, but with so many comments from people about having these two close together (they will be 16 months apart), I've been doubting our decision and getting more worried about #2 coming... and it's really nice to hear that everyone gets nervous at some point!

  • I had 3u3 and it was honestly the hardest thing I've ever done. My first 2 are 11 months apart and I found that to be easy and was shocked when #3 came. I had a very hard pregnancy, though, and that impacted my views on a lot of it, I think. If it makes you feel better, they are now 5.5, 4.5 and almost 3 and it's a lot easier. I enjoy my kids and their closeness. The good moments outweigh the bad and make it worth it, but there were moments where I didn't know if I'd make it. Make sure you have a lot of support. FWIW, the newborn months were the easiest for me. When DD2 got mobile, things got very hard...but she was also the world's most stubborn toddler.
