A few days ago my 8 month started rolling his head back and forth (sort of like he likes the way the blanket feels on the back of his head). He is usually smiling when he does this and is acting completely normal. This isn't when he is trying to fall alseep, but when he's playing on the floor. He had been doing it a few times a day for a few seconds at a time. It is not a seizure or anything but i did some googling (awful google!) and it was on a list of "potential" warning signs of autism. My husband and i just got in an argument because he says i am always worried and overreacting (which is true). He also isn't pointing towards things yet. He does babble a lot, make eye contact, smile, wave, clap and cuddle. Would you be concerned? Does your LO every do this? He also has his 9 month check up in 2 weeks so i plan to ask about it then.
Re: Head rolling
My LO does the same thing and I admit, it freaked me out at first. But he mostly does it when his head is leaning back on something like the high chair, carseat so I figure he's just feeling things out. The way I see it, everything is new to them so at this point I'm not concerned.
I'm a worry-wart too, so I totally understand.
But, its a normal developmental thing. They think its fun. DS1 used to do it, especially in his carseat and it freaked me out. I asked the pedi and he said it was totally normal, bla bla bla. Don't worry!
