First time moms...

Does it still sound funny after 9 months to say "my son, or daughter" ? It still does to me a little bit.

  • Yes, it does. Sometimes even saying his name when I talk about him feels odd. Weird, right?

  • Yes! Last night I said to DH, "Your daughter..." and it was still a little weird.

When H and I were engaged I only called him my fiance a handful of times. Most of the time it was his name or "him" (if it was clear who we were talking about). It took at least a year to get used to calling him my husband.

  • It's still weird to think about.  There are days where I'll be playing with her and it still almost feels like her real parents are going to come and take her because I'm just babysitting.  Then she bumps her head, screams "mamamama", and it feels like I'm a mom again.
