Here's the email I got from Similac for a seven-month-old:

What new talent will your baby pick up next? At almost 7 months old, she's babbling, waving, and scooting around on her own. Keep an eye on your little Houdini. You never know what she'll get into. 

At 6.5 months, my LO is not doing any of these things. She is definitely vocalizing consonants, but she hasn't started on the ba-ba-ba-ba-ba thing yet. The rest? Not even close.

Right now, we're still working on sitting up! Are we just like totally lagging here?

Well my DD has been babbling for about 3 weeks (dadada and screaming mainly) and sitting up for long periods for about 2 weeks. Scooting and waving shes not even a little close so i doubt 7 months she will be able to. Dont worry about it, I think scooting at that age is young and they are off.

Yeah, we're into the screaming right now, and also into like really concentrating on consonants one at a time, but none of the ba-ba-ba.

I'm not concerned about the sitting up because she had a head lag (long story) and so I was told not to be concerned if she's a little late on that, so I guess we're doing OK.

Yeah, OK...thanks again. I am done with those e-mails. Like I said, I expected her to be slow with sitting, and hence with crawling, but waving? Not even on the radar!

Our daughters are pretty close in age.  DD is babbling (da-da-da mostly) and scooching backwards.  I think a lot of that is influenced by her big brother.  She gets put down a lot more than he ever did and always wants to put her two cents in.  She also just up and started doing those things in a couple of days.  She went to being in one place all the time to scooching and rolling all over the place.
