I haven't had DS1 do any homework yet.
He started JK (junior kindergarten) last month. He is 4. He comes home every other day with 'worksheets' in his folder presumably to do at home - no actual direction from the teacher on that yet.
I figure the transition to kindergarten right now is enough, both for him and for me.
We talk about his 'homework' and refer to his folder. I will ask him to show it to his grandmother or (grown) cousins.
This month we will start setting aside 10 minutes or so to work on it. (It's things like circling certain sight words or practising writing his name).
I do not feel guilty. I figure he's got nearly 20 years of school/homework facing him.
Re: confession:
Kelly Monaghan's 5K - 5/15/11 - 3rd Place in AG
Walk the Talk 5K - 5/18/11 - 31:12 PR
Ridley Run 3.1 - 4/14/12 - 1st race of the year, 32:45
I really do not believe in homework in the early elementary years. A 4 yo does not need to be doing worksheets.
There's mr confession. I rol my eyes at my son's worksheets in first grade. If it's not reading with him, or him reading to me, I see little benefit to him spending precious family time doing worksheets... Do not feel guilty.
Fixed.
