Late Term and Child Loss

Popping over to make an intro.....

Hi Ladies,

I'm so sorry we're all here.  I can only imagine the pain that some of you late term ladies have had to endure.  I hope you don't mind me joining you as I lost my twins alot earlier than you but I feel like I belong here since I had a late loss and my loss still defines alot of my actions and feelings.

I lost my very-much-wanted IVF twins at alomst 20 weeks.  While on a business trip, I lost my mucus plug and got concerned so I went to the hospital, where I was told that my water broke and I had to deliver immediately because the risk to my health was too great.

My husband was able to drive the 6 hours to Pittsburgh, through a snow storm, to be with me.  Thank god he was there before I delivered.  I delivered two perfect little boys after a 48 hour induction.  Of course, at 19 weeks, they were too little to make it.  We were devestated and still are.

I have since had to endure the loss of friends and family as they moved on with their lives and healthy pregnancies and new familys.  I just can't bring myself to be around children, not even my new neice or nephew.

On the 3rd IVF cycle after losing my little boys, I got pregnant.  I'm 8 weeks today.  I am terrified and scared and so numb to it all--I don't even know my due date and refuse to find out.  I can't live that far in the future.  I feel guilty too as I am happy to be pregnant but I cry every day now because I really wish I had my perfect little boys here.  It's going to be a long road.

I'm sorry we're all here but I look forward to walking the path with you.

 Jackie

  • I just read your intro and am so sorry for your loss.  What a horrible experience.  I am glad you have your rainbow baby but understand that you don't feel at peace.  i thought being pg again would make it all better but so far, not so much.  I hope things change but I still feel a huge sense of loss.

I will be closely monitored this time but they really don't think it was cervical since I had to take 5 doses of cervidil to soften my cervix and had the max dose of pitocin.  They think it was either PTL from the twins or preterm premature rupture of membranes (pprom).  Both of those are fluke events so they hope it won't happen again.  I will be closely monitored though and I insist on being induced at 37 weeks (hopefully I make it that far) to avoid any other complications.

Hugs to you.  I hope you find peace.  My twins' urns are just on our nightstand.  i'm curious to learn what you choose for a permanent home for yours.  I want something more formal than what we have now.

  • I am so sorry for the loss of your twins, ours were born at 23.5 weeks and although we did have time to spend with them it was all to short and I wish that they were here with us everyday.

I wish you all the best with your pregnancy.  You are an inspiration to all of us who plan to give our angel babies a sibling.
