I desperately want to do a VBAC for this pregnancy (only 6 weeks pregnant) but my DH is scared to death and completely against it. What are the chances of a VBAC even happening. I heard you can't be induced and if the labor goes too long they immediately opt for a c-section.
Can anybody tell me their VBAC success story
Re: Considering a VBac - family debate
First to answer your questions....
- With a TOL, odds are some where around 70% of having a VBAC
- Some providers will use pitocin, scraping or the foley bulb, if your cervix is favorable.
- As for them rushing you to a c-section at the first sight of trouble... I think it's important to find a provider and doula to support you. If you have people on your side who TRULY want you to have a VBAC, and they say "it's time for a c-section", then they are probably correct.
We are having the same issue with my DH. He is terrified of VBACs because of all garbage opinions and unfounded rules that surround us daily. So, I have been SLOWLY educating him. If I push too hard, he shuts down and accuses me of being so crazy that I would hurt myself or our child to have a VBAC.
Next month, we're attending an ICAN VBAC seminar together. I want him to hear the facts and listen to the stories.
But, in the end, I know that I CAN'T count on DH be my support system for a VBAC. His heart will never be in it. So, I will have a doula to help me and help keep DH calm.

^ That is my 42w5d, 37 hour induction, VBAC success story
I read your chances of having a VBAC (assuming your pregnancy is healthy and you have a low, transverse incision) is 60-70%.
It is so, so important you have a provider who believes in your ability to birth this baby vaginally and that YOU believe you can do it as well. I would read everything positive and informative about VBACs that you possibly can. I would start here: https://www.ican-online.org
And of course you can seek support here
