It seems like a lot of us have a hard time referring to our ILs as Mom and Dad. Do you think it's a generational thing? My MIL calls her ILs Mom and Dad all the time. But it's just weird for me to do that for some reason...
I was thinking the same thing because my parents both called each other's parents mom and dad, until they divorced. I have no idea what they would call them now lol. My sister calls her IL's by their first names, which makes me wonder if it's our generation.

Same thought here , but I have a hard time calling them by their first names too. I am glad that I can now call them Grandma and Grandpa now
My father never called my mom's parents Mom and Dad. They were wonderful people but he never cared for them. On the other hand, my dad's mom was not nice (I called her "Grandma Stoneheart" behind her back) and my mom always called her Mom...trying to be respectful but my mom never cared for her.
My FIL is not in our lives - he's much, much too busy raising money for children's charities in the town he lives to even meet his grandkids. I have no idea what I'll even refer to him as to my kids. He goes by the nickname "Chico" in his daily life and his other grandkids call him "Pizza Guy" because they only knew him as the guy that owned the pizza place. So sad.
I now just use Grandma for my MIL (and her husband his Grandpa Tom). When I have to write a card to her I call her Mom but it kills me. I only see her once a year if that so I figure I can suck it up.

My MIL told me NOT to call her mom! But I'm not comfortable calling her by her first name, so I usually just don't call her anything. DH's dad isn't living, though, so we both call his step-dad George.
