My aunt got me a frame with the last stanza of this poem on it. And it kills me every time I read it. She put a picture of my older son holding my younger son too. This is what it says on it....
The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I?ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I?m rocking my baby and babies don?t keep.
I think part of it is that DS1 turned 3 on Monday and I swear he was a newborn like 5 minutes ago. It makes me never want to put DS2 down.
Here is a link to the whole poem if you're interested. https://fatduckfarm.net/attachment-parenting/babies-dont-keepthe-poem-has-an-author/
OK now I'm going to stop talking about it so I don't sit around crying all morning.
Re: I can't read this poem without crying..."Babies Don't Keep"
My mom had a picture (maybe it was a piece of embroidery?) with that stanza on it when I was little, and I was just thinking about it yesterday.
I'm afraid to read the whole poem, though.
Happy Spring!.
