PCV13 vaccine

I took DD for 3 year check up on Monday and she received the PCV13 vaccine (for blood infections, pneumonia, meningitis, etc. ) and know she is running a low fever. runny nose, and cough. Anyone else experience this symptoms?

We didn't have any shots at the three year visit and this vaccine isn't listed at all on our master list (not the one from the doctor's office or the one from school with all the req'd vaccinations). Is it standard?

It was an additional vaccine to follow up the PCV7 that she received at 2, 4, 6, and 12 months the dr said it was new this year.

It's a new version of Prevnar, the old one is called Prevnar 7 (covering 7 strains) this is Prevnar 13 (covering 13 strains).  It came out last year, it's just a replacement for the Prevnar 7, not an extra vaccine.

My DD didn't have any side effects but redness and swelling at injection site.  What you describe sounds like normal vaccine side effects.  I am surprised they had her get that though, since she already had the full set of Prevnar and is 3.

Sounds normal to me too.

Also wanted to mention that DD1 got it at her 3 yr visit as well. I remember them saying it covered more then the original(s) did, which is why she needed to get it, and I'm pretty sure it was Prevnar 13.
