A spider the size of my palm just walked by me while I am breastfeeding my son. My BF is out of town for work and I have no idea where it went. I don't want to move!I really hate spiders... On a scale of 1 to 10 how bad would it be to get a hotel until BF comes back?
Re: Spider!!!
I found a ginourmous spider a couple of weeks ago in LO's bag. I beat the piss out of it with H's sneaker, then left realized after a full minute of sneaker hitting that the spider retreated under my stove.
I told The Mister that either we get an exterminator and he shows me evidence of the dead spider or we were moving and the spider could have the house.
I fully admit to having an irrational fear of spiders. I try to think of Charlotte from Charlottes Web to get past it, but it doesn't work. I'm so glad I live in a place where there are no poisonous nor large spiders. If I saw a spider the size of my palm walking across the floor, I would learn to levitate to get away from it. And baby spiders coming out of a squished spider? EEEWWWWW!!!!!
I have seen one tiny spider in my house this week due to the changing temperatures. I can live with tiny spiders. At least, I keep telling myself that.
I remember reading that too, and after my whole body convulsed for a while, I thought to myself "don't spiders lay eggs?"
With that said, I am terrified of spiders. DH isn't much better, but he knows I go into paralisis when I see one and he will have to be the one to handle it.
I don't mind spiders (because they eat things I dislike even more), but cockroaches... YIKES!!! They are another reason I will never live in the South again. (Sorry if that sounds like South-bashing). But calling them "palmetto bugs" didn't make me feel any better about them.
Once, when I lived in Alabama, there was a roach so big in my apartment, that I thought I had killed and put in the trash, and it turned out, it wasn't dead, and I could HEAR its feet as it crawled over aluminum foil in the trash. *shudder*
Mac and cheese lover!
I hate roaches too... Luckily, I have not really seen any here. You would see them all the time when I lived in Texas. All I ever see in my apartment are spiders and the occasional june bug.
My philosophy all spiders are poisonous, as well as all snakes, and must be avoided. Cockroaches are creepy because anything that can survive with its head cut off or a nuclear explosion are unnatural.
They all lay eggs, but some carry the egg sac on their back. Wolf spiders do. Very icky!
Oh my god. ICKY. I don't think I'd get a hotel, but you can bet I'd be calling anyone I know that could come dispose of that bigfuckinspider. *shudder*
I am SO glad we don't have spiders that big in CO.
ETA: Also? This thread is giving me the heebie jeebies. Gah. And I didn't know that palmetto bugs were roaches. I always kinda wondered. Eeech. Spiders are way worse than roaches for me, but then, I've never had roaches in my house. Maggots, however...that's a full out gag-inducer for me.

UPDATE:
I have not seen the spider again. My fear is that he has been plotting all day to attack me while I sleep. I am avoiding the laundry closet until BF gets home. I told my BF I was worried he would end up in Liam's crib and eat him. He told me if anyone should be worried in that situation it would be the spider (our son will put anything in his mouth...eww)
1. OP, go ahead and get a hotel. I might.
2. OMG, I cannot believe that about the sac on the back, and the baby spidies everywhere. Holy shiit. That's all.
3. Where I live, there is a spider species that is completely unique to about the 30 square miles around my home. It is so rare (in the context of the world) that it does not even have a common name, just its Latin one, which is named after one of the arachnologists (did I make that one up??) at UW. They are EVERYWHERE here. They especially love my horse tack. Oh, and they have the most beautiful scarlet legs.
