Babies: 6 - 9 Months

7.5 mths old and 4am feeding

Is your little still eating in the night?  He eats and goes back to sleep until around 7-7:30am.  When does this usually end?

Re: 7.5 mths old and 4am feeding

  • My DD goes down at 8ish sleeps usually until 2am then sleeps until 7-7:30. She completely finishes her bottle and continues to be awake until I put her back down so I'm guessing she wakes up hungry and will continue to do that until it slows down. I really wish she will sleep through the night. I'm exhausted.

  • Hmmm... when do you last feed your LO at night? My LO will sometimes last eat at about 6:30 and go to sleep around 7:30 or 8:00, and depending on how much shes eaten that day, she may or may not wake up again at about 10:30 to drink another 6 oz.

But, even though she goes from 7:30 pm or 10:30 pm to 7:30 am without eating, she will sometimes STILL wake up at around 2:00 am and 5:00 am for cuddles. :/ I love cuddles, but I also love my sleep.

  • My daughter will be 7 months on Sat. and still wakes up twice a night. I am still breastfeeding but she has oatmeal and a bottle about 7:30 then is in bed by 8-8:30. She wakes up about 12am and then again around 3:30-4ish to eat/nurse. She gets up around 7am for the morning. I can't wait to get a full nights sleep again! Good luck

  • They go down at 7ish and usually wake back up for a 10/11pm bottle. Sometimes, just to spite me, they will want to eat again at midnight or so. But then they sleep until 7 or 8.

  • Yep we have the same night as you. One waking to eat around 4. I do not mind because we bf and anything to keep that going. Plus she gets bottles while I work so it gives up time together. I will make sure it is gone by a year, if she doesn't stop it herself first. I have a feeling her pedi would think it needs to end now but it works for us, and so I dont mind. Plus she truly is hungry, its straight down to business and then back to sleep so it does seem necessary for now.

  • DD usually goes to bed around and still gets up around 4 or 5 and has a bottle then goes back to sleep until 7 or 8.  The last 2 night though she slept through until 7.  I am not sure when it ends though.  I haven't minded it because at least she goes back to sleep for a few hours.

  • DS goes down around 7:30 and wakes between 1-3 for a feeding, then sleeps until 6 or 7. He takes a full feeding so I think he still needs the food.

  • DD will be 7 months next week. She SOMETIMES will sttn, but typically she's up about once a night. It's generally around the 3:30-4am hour, so she gets about a 7-8 hour stretch, and she finishes most of the bottle, so she's obviously hungry. She will then go back down for a few more hours.

  • Thank you all!  We feed him solids around 6-6:30pm and 6oz. of formula and he sleeps until 4am so it sounds like everything is normal.  I do like holding him during the night too.  I appreciate the help!

DS was doing exactly this until a week ago...then he started staying asleep until about 0630. He started taking a lot more in his first am feeding though. He has always been a 4oz- maybe 6oz kid...but now that first bottle at 0630 has to be 8oz.

  • We're still getting up between 4 and 5 am for a feed.  He's starting to sleep longer, maybe like once a week.  But honestly, I'm just used to it, I just get up, nurse him for like 10 mins and stick him back in crib and go back to bed myself.  Sure it would be ncie to sleep all the way through to 7 or whatever, but getting up once is an improvement over what he was doing from 4-6 months.  Plus since I'm breastfeeding I figure he needs that extra milk.
