Babies: 6 - 9 Months

DD started crawling this weekend! AW :)

Oh no, what did we wish for :)   The weekend before last she mastered going from all fours to her butt to half sitting and finally was able to sit herself all the way up and during the week became a master sitter upper.  I happened to be video taping her this Saturday when she got on all fours and started rocking (which she always did), looked up and saw a toy or something she wanted and next thing you know she crawled (a little wobbly) over and got it!  Then she did it again later on and again today.   It's crazy how right around the 6 month mark they just totally change and start to hit all these milestones.

I still haven't gotten used to walking in her room to get her up from a nap or something and see her sitting there, sitting up like a big girl.   Before she would always fall over but now she can correct herself and stay up (but still a few spills now and then) and she can now hold toys or a rattle in her hand and shake them like crazy.   And she is starting to pick up her books and look at them.... awww

God they are cute but why do they have to grow up so fast?  I really love this 6 month stage and the sitting up but terrified of the crawling, especially as she gets progressively better and can zoom around at lightning speed!!

I'd love to hear anyone else's crawling journey or any other milestones you care to share.

Still no teeth yet.

  • Aww, that's great.  Congrats!  Watch out for pulling up.  For us, that happened less than a week after she crawled really well!

  • No teeth here either.  She really wants to crawl, but she is just at the point of pulling her knees up under her tummy, and then going off balance and tipping over.  She finds this very annoying!  I love the 6 month stage, too.  My husband said her name tonight in a sentence, and she looked right at him like, "Yes?"  Then, we kept saying it, and she looked every time.  She knows her name now!  She has also just started figuring out the sippy cup.  It's fun to watch how proud they are when they figure this stuff out!
