do you share a facebook account??

...as in "MaryAndBob Smith" as one single facebook account?

WHY!?

Re: do you share a facebook account??

  • Oh yuck.  My cousin and her H did this for about a year.  So strange.  I think it was a smart phone issue - only one of them had a smart phone - IDK.  It was weird.  Made me think there were trust issues in the marriage.

However my H is not on FB so sometimes I let him comment through my login.  Very rarely - and only to poke fun at friends (mainly about sports).

  • We are two separate people, thus two different accounts. I agree pp, it makes me think marriage/trust issues, although I'm sure people do it for other reasons.

  • ::raises hand in shame:: I am also guilty of having a "myspace" back in the days (when i was 19 and we where already married) and an ex would constantly message me and change his account after I would block him.

So when i made a FB account i wanted DH to feel like this was our account in case this issue ever came up again but he didn't care for FB so I took his name out a few weeks later. He occasionaly logs in as me to comment on friends pages like PP

  • Separate accounts, don't see the need to share one.  I don't know half of his friend and he doesn't know half of mine.

  • LOL. We each have a personal account, and we each have a "fan" page... (I'm a writer, and he's a musician). My personal account is full at the 5,000 limit with 500 friend requests waiting (because people won't find my author page)... So I can't even imagine how "sharing" would work.

    There's a limit? Who knew?

We have our own. A girl I went to high school with shares her account with her husband and it annoys me. She had her own account then after they got married they made one together and she deleted her old one. I don't know him so I am always hesitant to comment on any of her status update because sometimes I don't know if it is her or him posting it.

    this is funny Smile

My parents would be the same way, but my dad just makes my mom log into hers to show him the pictures I post or other family stuff. He can't be bothered to create an account and wouldn't understand it anyway.

I was hoping someone could explain to me why- aside from the trust issue reasons- someone would need to "share." I just don't understand it. I shouldn't care, but it annoys the crap out of me when people do this. I have a few friends that do it and I don't comment or write to them because I don't know who i'm talking to. It's pointless. You're not the same person.  There's a reason facebook requires one first name and one last name- it's not for teams. Sorry, I guess this is just a vent unless someone has a good explanation.

  • Noooo. I think that's just odd. Your friends will never know who is saying what. But to each his/her own. My husband and I share a bank account, and some couples would never do that. But I just find sharing a bank account so much easier and I manage the finances.

Yeah, some people get past it by creating multiple accounts--like some actors I know. I eventually created an author page, but I feel like an a$$ messaging people that my account is full so to find my author site.

I only know of one person who "shares" an account like this. The woman works at our vet clinic, and the guy has worked with Jared, and whenever she leaves a comment on a pic that is something flattering about a pic of me, like, "You look beautiful!" she'll put, "This is Wendy" so I know it's not her boyfriend. Weird. Just get your own account!

  • I find this annoying, too! An acquiantance from high school "shares" with her DH. I put share in quotations because I really don't think he has ever posted anything on the account, so what's the point?

Even creepier.... another high school acquaintance "shares" an account with her son... her 2 year old son. Yes, she has his name on her account. And she's constantly changing the account name. One day it will be Firstname Lastname, week later: Firstname Maidenname Lastname, another week: Firstname N DS name, etc. I was so put off by it that I unfriended her. Now FB suggests her as a friend almost daily.
