in my 3rd trimester i am having increased discharge ( TMI, sorry). I posted here and girls mentioned that it might be normal and called leukorreah (sp?). It was milky white, no itching or burning.
for the last few days, i saw additional clear discharge ( as if i pee'd myself). It is def not a lot, i do not have to wear a pantyliner ( do not like them, they cause yeast with me). At the end of the day, i can see something watery on my panties, maybe a total size of two quarters.
I decided to ask dr if this might be related to leaking amniotic fluid. He told me to come in. I am going tonight at 5pm, but i am super calm. I am pretty sure it is either urine or something not serious.
so, question: if you ever had experience with leaking amniotic fluid: was it a lot per day? i heard ppl saying it runs down your leg, i have nothing close to that.
any opinions are helpful! thanks!
Re: leaking amniotic fluid?
Ive had this also. I dont think it's amniotic fluid in my case. When i was pregnant with my daughter, she actually punctured a hole in the top of the amniotic sack and i leaked fluid for a couple of days while i got my labor started.
If you're worried, you can go into the doctor or hospital and they can test it.
With my son I had been leaking amniotic fluid for a couple weeks before he was born. I had mentioned what I was experiencing several times to my doctors and they did some tests to check for fluid leak (some kind of swab.. think they called it a fern test.. ) nothing showed evidence of the leak. Then.. at the last check (which was at the hospital (after having the fern test etc) and thinking I was being sent home - they did a sono and found low fluid around the baby and said I probably had been leaking fluid. And I'm like uhh yeahh I told you...
So... my point is - if you think you are leaking.. tell your doctor - and make sure things are good. If the hospital hadn't done the sono I wouldn't have known and god knows what kind of complications could have occurred. Good luck!!!!
Apparently it is supposed to, but the CNM I see occasionally at my practice tests for any watery discharge because she's seen really slow leaks, especially if the baby's head covers the tear. It's always good to get tested just in case! Though prepare yourself - the speculum is supposed to go in without lube, so it's usually not too comfortable. Lubricant can screw up the test results, as can having sex within the past 48 hours.
