I feel like such a baby...

Tommorow I have another appointment with my OB for an internal and a PAP. I have been hearing so much on some of these boards about how painful they are while pregnant, and I am actually really nervous about this... Now don't get me wrong, I am normally not all that anxious about going to get this done, however I am really nervous about it tommorow.... I really feel like a baby about this... Please tell me that its not as bad as I am making it out to be..

Re: I feel like such a baby...

  • I actually declined a pap altogether, I was way to worried about bleeding... which apparently is common during pregnancy from a pap.  I don't need one more thing to make me paranoid.

  • I had a pap done at my last appointment last week and it didn't hurt one bit, I was just laying there talking to the nurse while the Dr. was doing what he needed too, I also did not have any spotting afterwards, hope this helps! :)

  • I had one when I was around 6 weeks pregnant (not sure if that makes a difference or anything), but it was fine- no worse than any other regular PAP. I did have some light spotting the next day, but my OB had warned me about it, and it went away quickly...

  • Thanks ladies for your responding!! It does make me feel better.

  • I had mine at my first appointment (6 weeks?), and it didn't hurt or spot at all.  I usually feel a little pain and bleed a bit, so this was actually the best pap I've ever had.

  • You'll be just fine! It was only a little bit more uncomfortable than when not pregnant- but everything is sensitive down there anyway. I didn't have any spotting but it was over in a blink. Don't worry you'll do just fine! :)

  • I had no problems with my PAP...we did it on my first appt and it was not painful and I did not bleed....

  • I feel I'm pretty sensitive to paps and every one for me has it's element of being uncomfortable. The actual pap part only lasts less than a minute, 2 maybe and it's to test for possible things going on you're not aware of so I view it as essential. I did have spotting a couple days later but it was expected. I also bled for the transvaginal ultrasound. Some people just might be more sensitive. I was also told no lifting or pushing anything heavy because I might be a bit sensitive and bleed. No big deal.
  • I had my very first pap ever at my first appt. It didn't hurt at all. No, it wasn't very comfortable, and I could live without it. lol. I spotted for a few days, but very very little. Nothing to worry about.

  • Thanks ladies-- I appreciate all of your feedback-- I just need to suck it up lol... I'm def. going through with it, as I do find it important as well... I really am glad I can turn to all of you because I know we are all going through similar things...
