If your child has a lovey? (esp a blanket)

Does your child have a relationship with her blanket? Like beyond just snuggling? My DD talks to her "beebee" and pretends to feed it and says "I'm so glad to see you!" when they have been separated for a while? It's super cute...just wonder if it's typical!

  • DS2 sometimes asks where his blanket is while we are out.  Then he'll say aloud, "I'm coming blankie!  Hold on!"  Then, whenever they are reunited or when he is snuggling with it, he rubs it on his cheek a little.

He definitely has a strong attachment to it.  We're having family pics on Friday and I think I may bring it just to have one or two pics taken with the two of them together.

  • My DD  is 3 and has 2 godforsaken blankets. "Pinky" and "Fuzzy", she has to sleep with them, bring them out when she wakes up, but other than that, she doesn't have much to do with them throughout the day. I keep telling her that they like to lay in bed all day but she told me that they like to lay on the couch and watch TV. Pinky and Fuzzy are freeloaders that need to move on.

  • DS2 has a 'special blanket'.  He calls it his 'special blanket'.

He sleeps with it and will carry it in the morning to breakfast, sometimes to the car if we are heading out the door early.  It never gets further than the car.

But that is the extent of his relationship with his blanket.

  • DD gives everything from her fingers to her Apple Jacks to her balloons a personality and a voice.  She talks to them, they talk back and sometimes even argue.  I'm going with the idea that she's a creative genius rather than multiple personality disorder.

  • My 3 1/2 year old is just like that.  She keeps it in her backpack at preschool and I take it out and give it to her after she washes her hands, while we are walking out.  She always tells it (Blanca) I missed you so much and just hugs and kisses it.  It is very sweet.  She talks to it alot along with her dolls and babies and a million other things.

  • Um, YES.  I have two girls, ages 3 and 4.5.

They have birthday parties for their 'babies', feed them, and want to dress them up for Halloween Tongue Tied
