Baby Monitors

Do you still use a baby monitor in each LOs room?  All of our bedrooms are close together and I was planning on taking the monitor in LO #1s room and putting it in #2s room when he arrives.  I can still hear LO #1 without a monitor, but I wasn't sure if I should go ahead and get another monitor so they will each have one.  What is everyone else doing?

Re: Baby Monitors

  • We took the Angelcare monitor from DD and have it to DS. Then we bought a cheap Safety 1st monitor for DD's room. My theory was that I can hear her at night and she STTN almost every night but we still need a monitor for naps and such. With DS I was way too paranoid not to have one.

  • I still use a video monitor, and there are cameras in both of their rooms.  It helps me see if DD is sleeping or playing in her room, and was very useful early on in figuring out if DS was just stirring in his sleep or actually awake at night.

I know several friends who don't use them, but I love mine.  We didn't have the Angelcare monitor, just the Slim & Secure video monitor from Summer Infant.

  • When we move DD2 to her own room we'll get a second monitor. We just have an audio monitor for DD1 (Sony Babycall) and will do the same for DD2. I just want to be able to hear if DD1 is up to no good during naps and right after she goes to bed/gets up in the morning ;)

  • We only have one in DC#2's room but honestly rarely use it.  I can hear them both if I am in the house (we have a ranch).  They both STTN but I hear them when they wake in the am without the monitor.  I don't need to hear every stir at night and the monitor just echos everything.  I turn it on if I go sit outside at night or if I go in the basement for more then a minute or two.  Friends swear by the video monitors but if I want to see what DD is doing I get up and look in her room, we don't close the doors, I just have a babygate at her doorway.
