TMI Question: Sore crotch?

For about the past week I feel like someone took a baseball bat to my pubic bone. My guess is that things are moving around down there to make room for the babies. Did anyone else deal with this? Did it get better? Worse? The same?

Re: TMI Question: Sore crotch?

  • I felt like I had ridden a horse without a saddle all day long from around 24 weeks through the end...

  • that is probably the thing i miss least about being pg. My crotch was so freaking sore with both pregnancies- I carried low with both - and the pressure down there was horrible.... and no- it didn't get better until i gave birth :)
I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

Oh my gosh...that's exactly how to describe it. I used to ride all the time...and that's what it feels like.

  • Someone on here called it "donkey crotch"....like you have been kicked in the crotch by a donkey! Best way I could explain it...

  • Yup I have had it bad for weeks now. I asked my nurse and they said nothing can be done about it. I have found staying off my feet as much as possible has helped and to move slowly when getting up and down also helps.

  • Yep, I definitely had this.  I hate to be the barer(sp?) of bad news but mine lasted until ~ 2 weeks post partum.

  • that is so funny you mentioned this!  Mine just started at the beginning of my 24th week and I thought maybe I had walked around too much but then it hasn't gone away.  Great timing on your question.  I was a little embarrassed to ask :)
  • I posted about this about two weeks ago. It feels like either horseback riding or bike riding all day after not riding for a long time. For me, it really depends on when it hurts. Immediately after I stand up from sitting or lying down it hurts. If I'm moving around a bit more and keeping a little bit limber (getting up a lot or walking a bit) it hurts much less. Mostly if I stay in one position for too long I'm toast! I mix it up, and sit on my yoga ball which does help a little.

  • Yup, and I have to tell you I still get it sometimes if I am sitting too long or have a super hard workout.  The OB told me at my annual last year it's actually a muscle that is probably just super stretched out and will never be the same.

  • OH ya!  I had that bad.  I was in physical therapy for it right before and right after delivery.  It only got better when I delivered and got all that weight off my pubic bone and my pelvis was able to start to settle back into its normal shape.

Sorry you're dealing with it, but it should go away once those sweet babies get here!

  • We used to call it "lightning crotch" around here.  Mine started at 14w and went until the bitter end.

  • Thank you for posting this- I thought I was the only one! If I stand still for too long or get up too fast it's so painful and exactly as everyone else describes. Looks like I better get used to it but great to know that it's totally normal!

  • I had it when I was pregnant with my singleton. an ice pack helped. I kept it on my crotch when I was at my desk at work (and straddled a yoga ball crotch down). Which was fine most of the time when I was alone but not so cool when you stand up to greet someone with a big wet spot on your crotch.

  • I'm experiencing it already :(

I had it with DD2 as she carried low, but not so much with DD1 - she gave me rib problems since she was so high LOL
