Snap N Go

How long did you use your Snap N Go frame?

I'm due in December and trying to decide if it's something worth buying for LO. The only place I can see using it during the winter is the mall...and avoiding that place might not be a horrible idea ;).

Thoughts?

Re: Snap N Go

  • I used mine for a good six months.  It was easy to just pop the infant seat into the frame than to drag out my other stroller and possibly wake up my baby.

  • I used mine from Aug-March. I bought a B-ready in March and started using that instead.

  • With #1 we had the Bugaboo Bee, which when the seat's removed works the same as a Snap N Go and we used that until she was 6 months.  Totally worth it but I suggest trolling CL for a used one.  They really only last for a little while so you can get one in good condition for cheap.

  • I didn't use a SnG. I am totally against them from research I've done. We used a bassinet on the stroller frame and only the car seat if I was running into somewhere like the bank or cleaners.

  • Baby sits at a 45 degree angle which restricts air flow to their brain. It is the optimal position for car seat safety because it protects their spine and neck in a collision, but it is a bad position for health. Just because they sell them does not make them good. I also feel like I put so much time and research into getting lo the best products and then to get a SnG because it's easier and more convenient for me, while not taking into consideration what that can do to the baby health-wise would be crazy of me. I know that laying flat is the best thing for growth and development for the first 6 months if you can go that long. I also think it's not an accident that babies more often fall asleep in their car seat. The less oxygen you have, the sleepier you are. It's also very hot and sweaty in those things which is really not good. I say time and time again that I guarantee one day we will look back on these SnGs and say I can't believe we did that and didn't realize the negative health effects they caused.

I had seen this too recently, although I wish I could remember where!   The recommendation was to take them out of their carseat as often as possible because of it.

  • How about keeping things in perspective?  Obviously babies should not be spending all their time in a carseat and some premature/small infants have been known to experience challenges with maintaining respiratory function while supported in a carseat (something the hospital will evaluate with a premie) but running errands with a snap and go stroller/carseat combo is hardly endangering the child.

Of course, but if that's the only stroller  child is in for the first 6 months, I'd venture to say it's too much time. To me an errand is running into the bank or the cleaners but not going to the mall or out for the day. Everyone can do whatever works for them, I'm just giving my opinion based on my research.
