Two Under 2

2 under 2 sharing a bed soon?

DS1 is 21 mo. and 11 mo older than DS2 who is 9 mo old. We are planning to put them in the same room and have them share a full sized bed after DS2 turns 14 months. This is all in preparation for DD1 to arrive at the end of February. Does anyone have any experienced suggestions about this? Were there any problems that you did not foresee? What was good about it and what do you wish you'd done differently. Obviously this is not best case scenario, but against all odds the Good Lord decided these babies needed to come to our 3 BR house all at once :)

  • Wait, they're going to share a full sized bed? Am I reading this wrong?

I wouldnt let 2 kids of those ages sleep in the same bed together.

  • Share a room or share a bed?  I don't get why your kids would have to share a bed because you have a baby coming.  I'd get a mattress and put it on the floor before I had them share a bed...

  • Share a room, yes! Share a bed, no! Just doesnt seem like a good idea to me. Even a toddler sized mattress, for the younger one, put on the floor (if you cant get a bed frame and all) sounds like a MUCH better idea.

  • My FIL made us toddler size bunk beds for our 4 and 2 yr.  Which will be then used for the next two as well.  I have 3 boys and one on the way.https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/188865_10150155878350260_700955259_8587528_8320138_n.jpg

  • There is absolutely no way I would let two children of those ages share a bed together. Only because of safety issues, not because I'm anti-bed sharing.

If I were you, I'd keep your younger son in his crib, and try transitioning him AFTER your DD arrives. She will be tiny, and can sleep in a bassinet or PNP for months before needing a crib and her own room.

This exactly. And once you transition your younger son, I still would have them be in separate beds.  Twin or toddler mattresses on the floor would be better to my way of thinking than putting them in a bed together.
