My son hated the swing so we got rid of it (it was a portable one and we hated it too). Has anyone used the Snug a Bunny swing for several months? It gets such mixed reviews. Most are good, but the bad ones make me wonder. Most of the bad reviews center on swing speed, noise, and the motor dying after 3 months. We are going to wait until this baby is here to see if trying a swing would be worth the $$, but I want to be able to tell my husband which one to get if he has to run out and buy one.
Re: Fisher Price Snug a Bunny swing
Could not love ours more.
Our daughter slept in it, turned on, every night and for every nap for the first 2 months and the motor never gave us any trouble. It seems a little fast when they're teeny, but that's on purpose so that it can still actually move once they weigh 10+ lbs. At the beginning you can throw a blanket across them to slow it down (though we found she actually slept better in it when it was moving pretty fast!) And we did get noises once or twice but we could put our hand on the part where the swing met the base and kind of help it line back up or something and make the noise stop. We also had some noise when we didn't have the legs of it out wide enough.
As you already know, some babies hate the swing, so I won't say its the miracle for all babies, but it was for ours!
We have it and its worked well for us so far; no motor issues. We use it on and off though because my DD will go through phases of liking it/not liking it so it hasn't been in constant use. For us, it's been great for naps! It does make a clicking noise when it swings back and forth but nothing terribly annoying. The swing seemed very fast and high when she was first born but as she gained weight, it has been fine and there are several speed settings. The one thing I don't like is that it takes up so much space! But I guess that's a given with any swing. So overall, I would recommend it.
Hope that helps!
This swing was an absolute lifesaver for us and it was worth the money a million times over. It was the only place DD would nap for a long time; she napped in it 4 times a day, every day, for 4 months straight. No problems at all with the motor. It does seem fast when you first put baby in it, but 1) Faster is better for soothing baby, and 2) If it really bothers you, you can put a blanket under LO so that it hangs off the cradle and the pendulum effect will slow the swinging.
FWIW, she stopped napping in it at about 4.5 months, but we used it a couple weeks ago when she had a cold because she couldn't sleep flat in her crib and again, lifesaver.
We're nearing the 6 month mark, and we've been using the Snug a Bunny swing daily for most of that time. And for us, it's been worth its weight in gold and a complete and utter life saver. She still takes naps in it regularly. We've had no issues related to the motor (knock on wood).
It swings in both directions and reclines to a cradle. The only downside, in my opinion, is that it has a fairly large footprint.
That being said, our baby just loves to swing. At day care they use a smaller travel swing and she loves that about the same, so I'm not sure it matters for her. But this swing is incredibly nice.
I have a review and pictures on my blog:
