BoBride's post reminded me of a question I also had about PNPs...
We always ended up cosleeping when we traveled (except once we got a hotel crib), but we have a trip a few weeks after baby #2's due date and I don't think we're going to be able to all cosleep in the hotel bed (although I haven't ruled it out completely).
For moms who have traveled with the PNP for sleeping--how well does your LO adjust to the PNP from his/her usual crib? The PNP pad is really hard and thin (at least ours is--we have a Fisher Price one that was a gift). They sell these PNP mattresses but are those safe? I wasn't sure if you're supposed to "add" anything extra that didn't come with your PNP? Does anyone here use this in your PNP? Sounds kinda cumbersome to lug a mattress along with the already-heavy PNP though...but we're driving, so it won't be as big of a deal compared to flying...
TIA!!
Re: f/u Sleeping in PNP
i've found that A sleeps better on the hard PnP mattress than when it's padded. we put a soft foam mattress under the PnP one and thought she'd sleep better but she didn't. i think they are just used to it b/c the crib mattress is not very cushy either. the GoCrib we use has a very thin air mattress that does not appear to be very comfy (to me) either but she slept just fine in it (aside from issues I'll write about below)
we've never had issues w/her sleeping in another crib vs her own when traveling (at my parents', and the ILs, at hotels, etc). i was always shocked that she'd just plop down and sleep in a totally different place and in a different crib but she always did just fine.............until this last trip to FL where she is older and knows more....she kept crying "no new bed! no new crib!" when i put her down to bed. in the end she did sleep ok in it but the first night we had to let her CIO for an hour (yes, an hour!) before she'd settle (this was after going in after 15 min and then putting her back down and realizing nothing was going to help and she was just going to have to CIO)...subsequent naps/nights were better and the 2nd time it was more like 15 min of crying and then all the times after that were like 2min

I think that's what we have too. It's literally like a hard flat board =P
Thanks so much ladies!!--good to know your LO adjusted with no problems. I think we'll just stick to the original PNP--saves us the trouble of bringing more stuff and the $ buying more stuff =P
