sleep sacks ?

J is a serious wiggler in bed, but I'm worried about him being cold.  Last winter he was still in a swaddle so I didn't have anything to worry about, but I'm thinking about a sleep sack for this winter.  Do you think it'll be OK even though he rolls and moves around a lot?  I obviously don't want him to get tangled in it...

Re: sleep sacks ?

  • Yes, definitely! They can wiggle and roll and move around and still stay warm. Aden & Anais makes some really nice thick warm ones, but they are sleeveless. DS would wear footed PJs and one of these and be fine.

Or, once the winter stuff really starts hitting stores, you should be able to find long sleeved fleece Halo ones too.

  • DS1 still wears halo sleep sacks at 19 months.  They have the fleece ones and cotton ones for when it's warmer.  His don't have sleeves, but his jammies have long sleeves, so I don't worry about that.  I got the last ones that I bought from Amazon.

A friend also told me about Grobags for when he grows out of the Halo sleep sacks. I haven't looked into them yet, but I plan on keeping the kids in sleep sacks for as long as I can.

  • As soon as DS was out of his swaddle, he went into sleep sacks and still uses them nightly.  We just came out of a cold winter, so he has a variety of cotton ones, merino wool ones, and fleecy ones.  Even during our summer it can get chilly, so we have some lighter, summer weight ones.  Oh, and DS rolls a lot and has never had any issues with them.
