I think it depends.Talk as in: man this happened at work today, what do I do? Or answering a question regarding your area o expertise? Yes, those are allowed.Talk as in: I do x would you like to be my client? While I don't care, provided those are not the only posts you write) the Bump has rules about that if you are not a paid advertiser.
The rules probably say no but I think this board is not too strict on it. I think it would be annoying if someone came on here that has never posted before and was clearly posting just for their business. I see a lot of people on here that have businesses and I haven't seen anyone get upset with it (direct sales, photographers, bakers, etsy store owners, etc.). I personally have bought things from some people on this board - I like to support our local businessowners. I felt this way before I had my own direct selling business.
What do you sell?

ditto the previous posters. I'd also add that if you are an active member of this community and someone says "hey - do you all know anyone who sells/does xyz?". I'm a business owner but I've been a member of the nor cal boards since I got married in 04. I've never said "Hey, if you need MY PRODUCT, here's my etsy store." If someone has asked specifically for my type of product and no one else has mentioned my store, I will say something like: "I can help - do you want to email me offline?"
Good luck with your business.
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.
