I've been using Bumgenius 4.0 and Elementals for my 6 month old daughter and haven't had any trouble with them. I love them. However, in the past month her diapers have been leaking at night. Having to change her clothes in the middle of the night and in the morning is getting a little old. I've tried stuffing them both (using the newborn inserts) but haven't had much luck.
Any suggestions on what I should do? Any other diaper to try? I hate to say it but I am considering using disposables at night.
Re: Nighttime diaper suggestions
I was in the same place as you. I tried everything I could think of and everything my friends recommended. Finally, on a whim we tried this other thing and it has worked for us for about 8mos now. DD is an extremely heavy wetter at night...she was peeing through her diaper twice a night when we used BG double stuffed with a liner inside the diaper and I was exhausted.
We now use: Fitted with zorb sewn in the middle, thinner prefold inside of that and a nice cover on the outside. Just the fitted didn't work, we need the prefold inside to help absorb the rest but having the entire diaper be absorbent seemed to do the trick. I use handsewnbyme fitteds (on etsy). They are very affordable and she's great to work with. You're welcome to pm me if you have any questions! GL!
We love our BGEs for daytime use, but they won't work at night for us. We can't use pockets at night either. I would suggest looking into fitteds for night time. Some people use PUL covers but we use wool for naps and overnight. I particularly like the sbish snapless fitted and wild child woolies soakers. The thing about fitteds is that the whole diaper is absorbents versus just the insert, and wool also can absorb some excess moisture without leaking.
We sometimes switch up our night time diaper but it's always a fitted/wool combo. You can ask around for other recommendations. Lots of ladies like good.nights by GM, night-nights by Twinkie Tush, or B4s.
