Simplicity parenting?

Have you heard of this?  Thoughts? https://www.simplicityparenting.com/

They had something about this on the news tonigiht.  The basic idea is to "purge" your child of toys and leave a few simple ones.  They then are soupposed to appreciate things easier and focuse on creative play and family time.  This one little girl in the news story only had some blocks and a few stuffed animals and her parents claim she is very happy now...

Re: Simplicity parenting?

  • I am most of the way through the book. I like it, but I think like most things you need to take & make it work for your family. The book even states that throwing out all of your toys might not be the answer for you family, but downsizing even just a little would be ok. I don't know about you, but my kids definitely have toys they never play with or things are broken & just taking up space. I do a toy sweep every few months when things start to get cluttered, toss broken things, etc & it has really helped. They also discuss over-scheduling kids which seems to be a hot topic here. There are lots of good tips for someone who is completely over run with toys & clutter, a chaotic life, need help scheduling, & so on. I feel like we were already doing ok though...somewhere in the middle of a lot of toys & none at all & life is not too hectic here. It's a decent read though.
