Two Under 2

Thoughts on room sharing?

DH and I talked tonight about rooming arrangements once LO comes. We originally were going to move DD into her own room, which is now our office, but DH made the suggestion that we have the two share a room. DD will be 21 months old when LO arrives. We plan on having LO stay in the room with us until he/she is sleeping through the night since I will be BF.

What are your thoughts? Will it work?

Re: Thoughts on room sharing?

  • My two will be sharing a room (and will be 20 months apart). We have a 3BR house but a guest room is a necessity.

DD co-slept with us for about 6 months and then was a pretty good sleep. Now she's an amazing sleeper.

This one will be in our room as well.
Our kids will always share rooms since we want 5+ and will never have probably more than a 4 BR house so they should probably get use to it :)

  • I'm sure it would or could work, but we have an extra room so we used it.  I didn't want to run into putting TWO small children back to sleep during the night if I didn't have to.

Many families make it work though!  Good luck to you!!

  • We're doing it.  My LOs will be 17 months apart.  J stayed with me in my room for about 5 months before he moved to the crib.  We have a 4 bedroom house, but 2 rooms are upstairs and I don't want to move him up there just yet.  So these two will share until I think J's ready to move up.

  • Thank you. I think we will try it. Worse comes to worse we have to get rid of the office and separate the two.
  • I am planning on moving DD2 to her sister's room (they are a little under 22 months apart) when she outgrows her moses basket (which is currently in our room), STTN or not. We'll see how that goes...
