I've already posted something similar, but is there anywhere I can get benefits for being self employed & single, I can't take a long maternity leave, not even a month bc I have so many bills that I have to work, but even work is going slow right now. If I don't have clients, I have no money. I didn't know if there was somewhere I could apply to help with maternity leave or something?? Let me know!
Re: Single, Self Employed & Can't take much maternity leave. Can I get help from anywhere??
I had a similar situation when I was pregnant with my son. I had no maternity leave and very little savings due to an expected divorce. Like you, I had about 9 months to prepare for my 6 weeks off without pay. I saved and scrimped everywhere I could my entire pregnancy. I also had to buy every single thing a baby needs, as I had nothing. I bought just about everything second hand and accepted as many hand me downs as I could. It wasn't easy, but it was do-able. In the end, I took my 6 weeks off, Jack, Pumpkin and I had everything we needed (key word - needed) and I was a wiser woman for learning that lesson the hard way. You do what you have to do to make it work.
Good luck!
