TTC After a Loss

Not sure if I should TTC or TTA

So I just got the go ahead to TTC after my last m/c.  I really really want to try but I just started rehearsals for a show that will open in 8 weeks.  My doctor said that physical activity is ok during my pregnancy since I won't be considered high risk.  But if something happened I feel like I would beat myself up for it.  What do you all think??  I'll be rehearsing 3-4 nights a week (dance).  I don't want to wait but I'm wondering if it's irresponsible to try now?

  • This is something only you can decide... not a bunch of internet strangers. I really wish I could help.

  • I agree with Cashews. Only you know your situation and whether or not it's a good time right now. Good luck with whatever you decide.

  • Two things.

The decision to move forward and TTC should be made by you based on how you're feeling emotionally.

The decision to TTC vs. TTA because of dance should be made based on what your doctor says. Generally speaking with physical activity during pregnancy, if it is something your body is used to doing and isn't a new over-exertion, then you can consider continuing it in pregnancy. For example, people who have been runners can continue running, but don't start running if you've never been a runner before. I think the rule of thumb is that you should be able to carry on a conversation while involved in physical activity. Make sense?

I'm sorry for your loss. Good luck.

  • I would trust what my dr. said. If he says the physical activity is ok and you are ready to try again, then I would go ahead and TTC. But if you feel like you need more time or feel like you might worry constantly & stress out about your dance affecting a new pregnancy, then perhaps I would wait.
  • Thanks everyone, I know this really a question only I can answer.  I guess I was just looking for others opinions as far as what they would do in my situation.  Physical activity makes me nervous since I've had 2 miscarriages.  I feel like when I get my BFP I should just stop everything I'm doing so my baby can just stick!

    Thanks everyone for your feedback:)

  • I agree with everyone else that this is something only you can decide.

I'm in the camp of "when in doubt, don't" regardless of what it is. If you're not 100% sure than I wouldn't until you are. What happens if something happened and you were dancing? Would the what if's kill you? What happens if you get into dancing and decide you aren't comfortable doing it pregnant? Would quitting crush you?

I believe it's best to wait to TTC until you have no doubts at all. And that's only something you can decide.
