M has been wearing Robeez for a while, but I just got him his first pair of "real" shoes (Stride Rite's with a flexible sole). He seems to loathe them. I don't know if he just needs to get used to them, or if there's something wrong with the shoes and he's in actual pain. He's always hated anything being on his feet, so it's possible he just needs to get used to them, but his level of hatred for these shoes seems to be more than for anything else in the past. Did it take a while for your LO to "accept" shoes?
Re: Toddler hates shoes. Is this normal?
Ha! Yes. When we first put "real" shoes on J, he couldn't move--it was like he was frozen to the ground. He cried. I think maybe he was confused because he couldn't feel the ground as well?
Eventually we kind of held his hands and helped move his feet to show him how to walk in the shoes. They still weren't his favorites, but he got over it pretty quickly.

T stomped around like she had lead bricks on her feet the first time she wore tennis shoes. She never seriously loathed things on her feet, but it seemed to confuse her. The different sensation of the shoes combined with his hate of anything on his feet seems like a natural progression to me.
Assuming you don't see blisters forming on his toes or something to indicate a real problem, I'd give him a little more time to get used to them.
This is why I wish kids talked sooner! How much easier would it make things???
(answer: SO MUCH EASIER)
Dear lord, yes. Though once they talk, they still can't answer useful questions for a while. Just two weeks ago I was trying to figure out whether T's sandals were hurting her feet and I don't think she understood the question at almost 2.
