Hi everyone! New to this board but its something I want to do when the time comes! I had a C/S with my son (who is 3.5) and I know thats enough time in between to do a VBAC... but I had a horrific recovery with the c/s and am a little nervous that muscles and tissue down there hasnt healed completely as it was major surgery.
I guess I could ask my doc, but I like hearing personal experiences... TIA!
Re: (new) Curious -- yet horrified!
I'm not sure about the details and complications of your c/s. You'll probably want to get your op report from the hospital and discuss with your OB.
Somewhere on the ICAN website, there is information about healing after a c/s. I want to say that your internal scar is as healed as it's going to be by like 8 weeks postpartum or something (others please correct me if I'm wrong). However, most OBs prefer at least 18-24 months between c/s and VBAC (this varies by provider though).
FWIW, I had a successful VBAC about 27 1/2 months after my c/s, and the recovery from my c/s was awful to say the least. My recovery after my VBAC was no "walk in the park," but it was TREMENDOUSLY better than my c/s recovery!
Talk with your care provider and get ahold of your operative report. GL and HTH!
