1st Trimester

First Response Test

Hello Everyone,

I'm new to this, but I have a question. Have any of you used First Response before. Are they usually accurate. I have all the signs of pregnancy; sore boobs, mild nausea, extra exhausted. Im supposed to get my period on Saturday, October 25th. I took the test on Wednesday and it read "not pregnant". Did I take the test too soon? Should I try when I actually have a missed period? ?

Re: First Response Test

  • All those symptoms are also signs of PMS.  Retest on Saturday.

  • Are you supposed to start Saturday or the 27th, the 27th is Monday. You may be testing too early or as the pp says it may be PMS.

  • I used the early response one and got a bfp (very light) at 12DPO, which for me was two days before the missed period. I tested the day before and got nothing.

I'd hold off for a few more days--everyone is different.

Will baby #3 be another girl?

  • I got the first clear positive on First Response Early Response.  I got the first positive digital on First Response Digital.  I'd wager they are fairly accurate and you are either not pregnant or tested too early.

Too early is determined based on when you ovulated, which changes from cycle to cycle.  Test again in a couple of days and be sure to use first morning or otherwise concentrated urine.  It helps to pee in a cup so you can make sure the urine is nice and yellow and control the amount the test receives.

  • i used generic Walgreen's tests...and all 3 of them confirmed a BFP.  it shouldn't matter what brand the test is.  probably too early.

  • I took a test the day I thought my period was due and it was negative. I retested 11 days later when I still didn't have my period and it was positive. Try to give it more time!

Sounds like me!  I took one of the FRER tests 3 days AFTER AF was due-like 17 DPO-and got a BFN.  I had no symptoms at that point, other than cramping.  I retested with an EPT (digital and non) when AF was 2 weeks late and my boobs hurt something awful and got positives immediately.

  • On first response it says that you can take it "up to five days before your missed period" but if you read the instructions, its only 59% effective then. I took a test last week(around the time I was supposed to start my period), and it was negative, then took one on Monday and it was positive. I would say that you should retest on Monday to find out for certain, then its up to 99% effective!! Much better odds!

  • Everyone is definitely different.  I tested 5 days before my missed period and got a positive line, but it was faint.  Even so, it was there.  I confirmed with a darker line a few days later.  My friend was pregnant two weeks before me, but didn't get a positive line until the day she was supposed to get her period.  We both used First Response.
