HELP!!!! I bought a Sonoline B doppler from ebay and it doesn't have directions. There seems to be a level 1,2 and 3. I have no idea how to accurately use this thing. Can anyone help me out????? The website didn't help me.
AKBecca Posted 03/22/2010I got mine on Friday (I am due 10/21, so 9 weeks and some days).Mode 2 is the one that I have had the best results on. You have to find the baby and keep the monitor hearing it so the average does eventually show the higher numbers.Mode 3 is a manual average that requires you to press the back light button to start and stop.I forget what Mode 1 is, but I did not see the hb reflected accurately there. There should be an instruction manual for you, it describes the three modes (about mid-way in the english part of the book). Also follow the tips other folks had about where to find the heartbeat (down near the pubic bone and hair line for me, mine is on the right mostly but that is where I ovulated from for this pregnancy).

p.s: the general consecus says mode 1 is for early pregnancy, mode 2 is for later and mode three is never used mode 2 is probably the "smoothing method" which blocks out noises that are too low...which would be noneffective in early pregnancy.

There was a post on here w/ a Youtube video that a girl did of tips on using the machine. It was helpful. I am 12 wks. and I have probably only found my babies hb 1/3 of the time. It is frustrating. If you get something in the 120 range, it isn't the baby. It is deceiving because I can find THAT every single time. Something about an artery or something. I have found the hb and yelled for my husband only to lose it before he made it upstairs. So take your time and don't worry. Oh, and I use mode 1.

Look for the rhythmic swooshing sound which is you/your heartbeat then move the wand slightly around slowly tilting downward, until you hear a galloping sound-that is baby. It is a very distinct sound and you will know it when you find it. Disregard any displays at this point they aren't really accurate; that is the one thing bad about the sonoline B.

I got my first successful doppler reading around 9 weeks 3 days. Its WAY lower then you would think. I found mine around my bikini line and to the left. You have to move the wand very slowly....try not to slide the wand, rather move it up and down and sideways while keeping the end in one spot. It's really easy to miss it so it could take time. Idk how good the Sonoline B is, I was using the Huntleigh FD2 Fetal Dopplex with a 3m probe.
