How much do you play with your dc? What do you play when playing with dc?
Dd keeps asking me to play with her, and I do but I don't think I know what she is looking for. We built a lego grocery store together and I pretended to have a lego person go shopping and left and she just watched. She plays by herself, or asks me to build with her, or next to her... Hmmm, maybe my pretend play is stale, or too realistic.
How do you play with your child?
Re: Playing with DC?
I don't get to do it as often now with DS being mobile, but I try to play with my LOs for at least 30 minutes after work each night before starting dinner, and we sometimes play together between dinner and bedtime. And on weekends, Saturday mornings are DH's sleep in day so I get about 3-4 hours of time with them (he gets the same on Sundays).
Usually when my DD asks me to play with her she asks for something specific. She'll ask me to play with her dollhouse with her - which is usually just me sitting by her and watching what she does, offering occasional commentary. If she wants to have a pretend picnic, we spread out blankets and she serves me food and I pretend to eat it. She also likes to play "Naptime" in which I lay down and she covers me with her blankies and makes sure I have some stuffed animals, then usually she likes to pretend to wake me up by making some sort of noise. When we play outside she mainly likes for me to push her on the swing. She has a lot of games she has come up with over time and we just sort of know the rules now. Also, she is kind of bossy so she usually tells me exactly what to do and will correct me if I do it wrong, lol.
I do a lot of the same things as the PP with my DD. My DD is also very bossy so she usually tells me what she wants me to do. Maybe just try asking what they want to do or just sit by and make commentary? I generally find I have the most fun when I follow DD's lead.
ETA: Edited for grammar. Sorry.
I do the same. But I guess with the new toy (legos) her expectations were different... Usually we both know what is going on and know the "rules"
