Hi Everyone,
I was at the doctor today getting some tests done that weren't pregnancy related. He's aware that this is the first month since going off BC. I am 27 days since the first day of my last period. I was getting some blood work done so he wanted to test and see if my urine would come back positive or negative.
It came back negative. I was wondering if I should take this answer as what it is or if it's common to have false negatives when it's this early. Keep in mind my periods have always been irregular and I'm not sure what my actual cycle really is.
Have many of you had false negatives and do you think this is to early to get a good answer if I am pregnant or not?
Re: False Negatives
If you're only 27 days past your last period and this is your first month off BC, you likely haven't even ovulated yet. I wouldn't worry about it at all. This isn't a "false negative" but likely a negative. That doesn't mean you won't get pregnant this cycle though, but i highly doubt you are pregnant yet. Good luck!!
Edit: I just realized this is in the TTCAL and not the TTGP board too. Have you had a PG loss before? I think you might be on the wrong board. You might want to check out the Trying to Get Pregnant Board.
Welcome to the board. If you have no idea how long your cycles are, then this negative is probably a negative.
I am also irregular, and charting has helped me learn my body very well! May I suggest picking up a copy of Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It's a great book and I learned so much.
I now chart, and use OPKs... I can always pin-point ovulation and I now always know when AF should arrive. That was something I never knew before! It's been so wonderful planning. Without knowing, I would have never brought pads and tampons on my vacation in August. I would have been SOL and buying the expensive stuff from the one and only store there. So it was nice.

I think it's too soon to call. If you're interested in doing so, I think charting your cycles might be a good idea if you want to have a better idea of where you are on any given day. Many of us have links to fertility friend in our signatures, and What To Expect sites also have similar charting software. Fertility Friend has good tutorials to get you started which not only help you get charting, but also help familiarize you with different parts of your cycle.
Best of luck.
