Anyone deliver at St Raphaels?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has delivered at St Rapheals in New Haven.  I am switching drs and the new group delivers there.  We took a tour and it looks nice however I would love to hear some reviews before making the switch.  Also if you had a c section there I would love to hear how that went.  I am hoping for a vbac but realize there is a great possibility of a repeat c section.  Thanks for your help.

Re: Anyone deliver at St Raphaels?

  • My group of doctors deliver at both Yale NHH and St. Raphael, but my doctor has a preference for St. Raphael. I also thought the tour was reassuring.  I will deliver my first there so that's as much insight that I have.  No one else has replied yet so hope this helps for now.

  • I delivered at St. Raphaels 5/2010, I have nothing to compare it to but I thought it was a good experience. I had a private room for labor and delivery, had the usual shift changes so a few different nurses but they were very attentive and not cranky.  The maternity floor seemed a bit small but I still had a private room. They are very pro breastfeeding and were very encouraging.  The nurses were a mixed bag, but that is with any unit (I"m a nurse so I know!). the only issues I had were that it took a while to be discharged (like 2 hours) and the lactation consultant was a little hyper and overwhelming--I was a sobbing mess and she was too cheerful for me.
