Trouble TTC

Classroom infested with mold

I am a wreck. My classroom has been smelling horrible for a week or so, and they FINALLY believed me enough to check it out. After two days of searching, they found a whole wall behind three bookcases infested with mold to the point where they have to somehow replace my whole exterior wall.

I had to get out of my classroom and am now teaching on a cart. The worst part was that I googled mold and fertility, and long-term mold exposure CAN cause fertility problems. I just completely broke down in my principal's office. It can affect estrogen levels. My estrogen was almost 900 last month right before ovulation with only one egg. I just wanted to throw up when they told me about the mold.

I also have my first IUI in the next few days. I should be relaxed and feeling healthy, and instead of feel horrible. I told my DH that we shouldn't even waste the money on IUI this month, except that I'm on my fifth cycle of Clomid and I don't want to waste that.

Thanks for letting me vent.

  • Sorry about the revelation of mold. Try to look at it in it's positive way though. It's a good thing that they found it when they did and you haven't been exposed longer. Hopefully, it hasn't affected your fertility, but if it has, hopefully your next cycle your levels will be back to normal. Again... sorry this is happening to you. I'm sure it's the last thing you needed to happen right before your IUI.

  • I'm so glad they finally listened.  That is awful.  I might mention it to your RE the next time you see them.  IMO it is important they know all the factors that may or may not be affecting your IF.  I'm glad you will be in a much better environment.

  • Thanks so much. I will certainly mention it when I go. I feel so much pressure to be "relaxed" and am trying so hard to be healthy, and I feel like it's such a losing battle these days. I am glad to be out of that room.

I wish I had faith that my school would fix it correctly, but I'm so worried it won't be done right. I love our custodians, but how much do they really know about mold remediation?

Thanks again for responding. I feel so crazy these days.
