I need your help

I just moved here yesterday with my husband, son and dog from NY.  We are currently living in corporate housing in Walnut Creek.  My husband goes back to work on Monday and I need things to do to fill my days.  I left behind my entire family which I am incredibly close with.  I am worried that if I spend too much time in the apartment I will become very sad and homesick.  I'd love to hear what you guys like to do.

Welcome to Cali!  I'm Heather I grew up in WC, now I live in Sacramento.  

Do you have a car?  If you are close to downtown there are a million things to do, stroll around Broadway Plaza, Civic Park is great.  The library is new and has an awesome kid's area, fun place to hang. Heather Farms is good to but not walkable if you are downtown-ish.

I'm very close to my family as well and I totally get what you mean.  You're going to be great, Walnut Creek is a great place to be.

On a nice day, come hang out at the Oakland Zoo, we go there a ton.

Hi. I am Ariel and I am just a few towns over. I would look for a mom's group in the area Plesant Hill's mom group is big and a good one, but there are others too. You could also join a parents ed group. Lafayette Adult ed, Walnut Creek has one and so does Mt Diablo School district and Martinez. Most of the programs have you and LO in a class like setting where the LO can play and the parents get to talk. There are also lots of parks and indoor play areas including Super Franks, Giggles, and  Studio Grow in the area.Welcome to the board!

Hi and welcome.  There's a few mom's clubs in WC that I can think of.  One is www.mdmcmoms.org (the one that Ariel mentioned) and the others are on meetup-com.  The ladies here occasionally have GTGs in WC with the kids too.

I don't really have any recs but wanted to welcome you. We moved to the south bay about 5 months ago from the midwest. It is tough with a little one.
